BOSASSO, Somalia, June 17 (Reuters) - Somali pirates have freed a German-owned cargo ship, seized in April, after they received a ransom, a pirate and maritime source said on Friday.

The Antigua and Barbuda-flagged Susan K, and with its crew of 10 Ukrainians and Filipinos, was released on Thursday.

ABUJA, June 17 (Reuters) - A radical Islamist sect based in northeastern Nigeria claimed responsibility on Friday for a bomb attack on the country's police headquarters, according to a statement sent to a local newspaper.

Police said they believed a suicide bomber detonated the explosives, which tore through the car park outside the headquarters in the capital Abuja on Thursday, killing several people. They blamed radical Islamist sect Boko Haram.

KAMPALA, June 17 (Reuters) - Uganda has successfully prevented the rare and deadly Ebola virus from spreading, nearly two months after a 12 year-old girl bled to death after contracting the disease, officials said on Friday.

"Uganda is free of Ebola," Doctor Anthony Mbonya, chairman of a national task force set up after the girl's death, told Reuters. "The situation is perfect."

According to NBC Washington, the Rockville Metro, Red Line was evacuated when a female passenger was reported to have eluded to a bomb threat.  There is shuttle bus substituting during this interruption which is projected to be restored within the hour.

"Spider-Man" producer Laura Ziskin dies of cancer, Posted by Meosha Eaton

(Reuters) - Laura Ziskin, the Hollywood producer who helped turn "Pretty Woman" heroine Julia Roberts into a star and brought "Spider-Man" to the big screen, died on Sunday after a public battle with breast cancer. She was 61.

According to a statement from Sony Pictures, where her production company was based, Ziskin died at her Los Angeles home after fighting the disease for seven years.
