union ministers will not rejoin govt

TUNIS, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Tunisia's
powerful labour union said on Tuesday its ministers would not rejoin the
interim government after the president and prime minister quit the ruling party
in a bid to meet popular demands.
"Our key condition is that the
government should not include any ministers who were ministers in the previous
government," Abid Briki, a union leader, told Reuters by telephone.
"That demand does not include
Mohamed Ghannouchi who was asked by constitutional means to form a new
government."
Tunisia's labour union withdrew its
three ministers from the government earlier on Tuesday. (Reporting by Lin
